FemPower: Gender Equality in the Clean Energy Transition

Ensuring a just and gender-equal energy transition requires increasing the representation of women in the energy sector, supporting and preparing women who are already active professionally or academically, as well as integrating the gender dimension in research and development.
This is what FewPower is striving to do.

The consortium’s partners are active in the fields of clean energy transition, gender equality or STEAM education (in “Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics”). It is a diverse outfit: it includes higher education institutions, NGOs, SMEs, government agencies, and encompasses multiple disciplines: energy studies, interactive design, learning innovation, STEAM, gender equality, and social innovation. Such diversity provides fertile and necessary space for collaboration, as the clean energy transition requires not only a transnational but also a cross-sectoral and multidisciplinary approach. All to address the multiplicity of technical, societal and economic challenges.

Through FemPower, all partners will be able to increase the quality and relevance of their activities, develop and strengthen their networks of local/regional/national/EU and international partners, increase their capacity to operate jointly at a transnational level, stimulate the internationalisation of their activities, and through the exchange or development of new practices and methods and the sharing and confrontation of ideas.

FemPower will develop tools, methodologies, open educational resources, a peer learning network and multidisciplinary collaboration to increase inclusion and diversity in the transition to clean energy, promote interest and excellence in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and the STEAM approach, and in particular increase women’s participation in STEM.
